I built Think Bold for the institutions and the people who want to do this work properly: admissions, the professional services that hold higher education together, and the development of the people running it. Fifteen years in the sector convinced me it’s possible. Think Bold exists to prove it.

Fifteen years inside professional services. Nine of them in senior admissions leadership. The rest across quality, partnerships, registry, and the student journey.
Across that time I have worked on medical school admissions, initial teacher training, degree apprenticeships, HE in FE, professional healthcare admissions, international and home, institutional mergers, joint projects with the DfE and major digital implementations. Few people in this sector have worked across all of that.
And I am still doing it. Think Bold’s work draws directly on what I’m dealing with in live engagements. The methodology isn’t theoretical. It’s the operating model of a senior admissions specialist who never stopped being one.
What we believe
Higher education already knows what it should be doing. The codes, the standards and the practice are all written down. The gap is in actually doing them.
Boldness in this sector isn’t aggression. It’s rigour, modernisation, and the nerve to act on what’s already known.
Compliance, capability and confidence are the same problem at different scales. None of them holds without the others.
Senior expertise comes from doing the work, not advising on it. Every engagement is staffed with practitioners.
Honest assessment is the focus. Reassurance you don’t need won’t fix what you do.
How we work
Think Bold runs as a senior practitioner firm. I founded it and remain its director and senior expert.
Every engagement is sized to the institution and scoped to what the work actually needs. No two diagnostics look identical because no two institutions do. Pricing reflects scope and impact.
Client identities stay confidential. Anonymised insight gets shared publicly through The Bold Collective, the HE Tea Break podcast, and my writing on LinkedIn. Named client work stays out of public view.
Beyond Think Bold, I write, speak, and co-host the HE Tea Break podcast. I’m the author of Surviving and Thriving in Higher Education Professional Services (Routledge, 2024) and speak nationally on admissions, regulation, and the future of higher education’s professional services. Fuller bio, speaking enquiries, the podcast and the book all live at www.rachelreeds.co.uk
